Answering the Call
One of the most profound questions human beings have asked throughout history is, “Why am I here?” Not simply why we are here in a particular place, but why we are here on this earth.
A quote often attributed to Mark Twain says, “The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why.” This reminds us that while our birth marks the beginning of our existence, discovering our purpose gives meaning to our lives.
In Matthew 22:14, Jesus teaches, “Many are called, but few are chosen.” I believe that every one of us is called to serve a purpose. Yet many never answer that call. Some allow fear, doubt, or life’s challenges to hold them back. Others convince themselves that they do not have the gifts, abilities, or qualifications needed to make a difference.
The truth is that most people want to serve. They want their lives to matter. They want to make a positive impact. Often, they simply do not know where to begin.
The Parent Student Prison Initiative (PSPI) was created to provide that opportunity. Through PSPI, we answer God's call by serving children, families, and communities affected by incarceration. As we serve others, we serve God. We help restore hope, strengthen families, and create pathways to success for those who need it most.
Serving through PSPI is more than volunteering—it is an opportunity to live with purpose. It is a chance to use your gifts, your experiences, and your compassion to make a lasting difference in the lives of others.

Parent Student Prison Initiative
We are currently seeking qualified individuals to serve as PSPI Ambassadors on a contract basis. Ambassadors play a critical role in serving children of incarcerated parents and their families by acting as a liaison between PSPI and the families we support.
Ambassador Position Description
Ambassadors work to unite and empower students, parents, and guardians through case management services, social-emotional learning (SEL), advocacy, and family support.
Duties and Responsibilities
Meet with assigned students, parents, and guardians on your caseload
Maintain all case records in accordance with PSPI standards
Monitor individual participation and progress
Establish goals and advocate for individuals and families
Provide resources and referrals to families
Facilitate and apply the PSPI EMPOWER Social-Emotional Learning program
Attend monthly Board of Directors meetings
Conform to HIPAA and confidentiality standards
Report directly to the Executive Director
Minimum Qualifications
Experience working with youth, families, education, social services, counseling, mentoring, or related fields
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to maintain accurate records and confidential information
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
Commitment to supporting children and families impacted by incarceration
Bachelor's degree preferred but not required depending on relevant experience
Required Credential
Valid Arizona Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card (or ability to obtain one prior to employment)
