The Parent Student Prison Initiative’s (PSPI) EMPOWER Program serves as a bridge that reconnects and strengthens families through education, personal development, and relationship-building.
Using evidence-based social-emotional learning, the program equips students with the skills needed to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. At the same time, incarcerated parents participate in parenting classes and workshops designed to help them develop healthy, meaningful relationships with their children and prepare for successful family reunification.
By supporting both students and parents, PSPI creates opportunities for healing, growth, and connection. As families are strengthened and reunited, children are empowered to thrive, parents are better prepared to fulfill their roles, and communities become stronger and more resilient.
