EMPOWERing children of incarcerated parents and their families for a brighter future.

EMPOWERing Today’s Youth

Join Parent Student Prison Initiative (PSPI) at the 8th Annual National Children of Incarcerated Parents Conference

Scottsdale, Arizona on April 20, 21st and 22nd, 2026

This three-day in-person gathering will be held at SkySong, Arizona State University’s Scottsdale Innovation Center, located in Scottsdale, Arizona on April 20, 21st and 22nd, 2026. The conference brings together those with lived experience, advocates, researchers, policy makers, and a broad range of community professionals who work with children and families affected by incarceration.

Pathways to Success

PSPI is a bridge that connects families through education and personal development. Our program utilizes evidence-based social-emotional learning to engage students as they continue their education. Incarcerated parents learn the skills needed to develop healthy and whole relationships with their children through parenting classes and workshops. As parents and students come together, families are united and communities are stronger.

Nurturing Relationships

Through PSPI, incarcerated parents build strong relationships with their school-age children. As their children succeed in the classroom, parents are incentivized to continue their own growth behind bars.

Support for Communities

PSPI supports families by uniting prison and education reform. By bridging these systems, we provide opportunities for families to come together and create reform that builds strong & healthy communities.
